Our Objectives

1. Protect, promote and maintain the health, safety and well-being of the public.
2. Promote and maintain public confidence in the optical profession regulated under the optical bill.
3. Promote and maintain proper professional standards and conduct for opticians.
4. Promote and maintain proper standards and conduct for optical businesses.

Key Mandate of the Association as per the Register of Societies

1. Protect the health, safety and welfare of the public by supporting laws and regulation to govern the practices of optometry/optics and to safeguard against unprofessional, improper and unlawful practices of the profession.
2. Maintain professional ethics.
3. Sensitize the public and create awareness on primary eye care.
4. Be a lobbying group for the optometry/optical sector
5. Maintain and control high standards of professional education.
6. Provide continuing education and training to the members to uphold standards.
7. Facilitate interaction amongst stakeholders e.g., ophthalmologists, optical technicians, etc.
8. Maintain quality of optical products entering the market.
9. Certify members with “fitness to practice”.
