Education and Training Committee
This committee is responsible for developing and overseeing educational programs and training opportunities for opticians in Kenya. We work towards ensuring that the education and training standards are in line with international best practices. The committee also focuses on continuing education programs to keep opticians/optometrists updated with the latest advancements in the field.
Regulatory Affairs Committee
This committee is responsible for monitoring and influencing the regulatory landscape for opticians in Kenya. We work closely with government bodies and regulatory agencies to advocate for favorable regulations and policies that promote accessibility, affordability, and quality of vision care. The committee is also in licensing and accreditation processes for opticians and optical businesses.
Public Awareness, Outreach & Partnerships Committee
This committee focuses on promoting public awareness on the importance of vision care and the role of opticians. We develop and implement public education campaigns to increase awareness about eye health, common eye conditions, and the benefits of regular eye examinations. The committee also organizes community outreach programs and collaborates with other healthcare organizations to improve eye care access in underserved areas.
Professional Standards, Ethics & Fitness to Practice Committee
This committee is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional standards and ethical guidelines for opticians in Kenya. They develop code of conduct that outlines the expected behavior and ethical practices for opticians. The committee also handles complaints and disciplinary matters, ensuring that professional misconduct is appropriately addressed. We also provide guidance and support to opticians in maintaining high standards of professional conduct.
Registration & Licensing & Regional Expansion
This committee ensures that all members registered meet the minimum standards and qualifications of the Association in order to be registered as members. Duties include reviewing the application forms and ensuring the standards are defined and well understood by all committee members and applicants. We also ensure that applications are compliant with the KHPOA registration requirements.
